1. For specialized aquaculture farmers: Opening the door to wealth: Previously, raising soft-shelled turtles involved either feeding them live fish, which was costly (50 yuan per kilogram), or feeding them inferior feed, resulting in slow growth and low survival rates, deterring many farmers. Now, production lines produce turtle feed with sufficient calcium and fishmeal, leading to faster growth, harder shells, and thicker meat. The cost per kilogram has dropped to 30 yuan, the survival rate has increased from 60% to 90%, and the profit per mu (unit of land area) has increased from 10,000 yuan to 30,000 yuan. Many rural farmers have escaped poverty and become wealthy through soft-shelled turtle farming; this is the most direct benefit in terms of increased income.
2. For specialized aquaculture industries: From scattered operations to large-scale production, forming industrial clusters: Previously, specialized aquaculture was small-scale, unable to scale up due to unreliable feed. Now, production lines can mass-produce soft-shelled turtle and loach feed. Farmers in a region use standardized feed, and farming techniques can be exchanged, gradually forming industrial clusters such as "soft-shelled turtle farming villages" and "loach farming towns." After the formation of industrial clusters, buyers actively seek out products, and logistics and packaging become more convenient, expanding the sales channels for specialty aquatic products. This is the significance of industrial development.
3. For consumers: More diverse and nutritious meals: Previously, soft-shelled turtles and eels were expensive, costing over 100 yuan per kilogram, and ordinary families only ate them occasionally. Now, production lines have doubled the output of specialty aquatic products, reducing prices to 50-60 yuan per kilogram, allowing people to buy them for soup on weekends. These specialty aquatic products are high in protein, low in fat, and rich in nutrients, making people's meals healthier and more diverse. This is the significance of improving people's livelihoods.
4. For agriculture: Optimized aquaculture structure and improved resilience: Previously, many areas only raised grass carp and crucian carp, resulting in losses when market conditions were poor. The development of specialty aquatic product production lines has given farmers more options, allowing for mixed farming of grass carp and soft-shelled turtles. Even if grass carp prices drop, the profits from soft-shelled turtles can compensate. This optimizes the agricultural aquaculture structure, preventing farmers from putting all their eggs in one basket, thus strengthening their resilience. This is the significance of agricultural development.
